Most of us are familiar with the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. On our trip to Scotland, we were able to visit Loch Shiel, one of the film settings for the movie. I was not prepared for the idyllic setting that I was now a part of. Majestic mountains stand sentry over azure blue waters with an enchanting island in its midst.

One of the most beautiful places we encountered on our family trip to England was the charming villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter. Century-old homes sit amongst verdant green grassland as the gently flowing stream winds its way in between small villages. It is a place where locals still walk the time-worn paths and enjoy authentic dishes from the Old Mill Tea Room, made from local produce. For those travelers seeking peace and contentment in a tranquil setting, they need only to look to these in-between places.
